High School Principal
My leadership style is not restricted
to one category when referring to the
latest research with regards to typical
leadership styles, but to implement the
appropriate style as the situation would
require.
I would rather say that I have a principle
centered approach to leadership and
would like to serve the team I work with,
with the gifts and talents I’ve received to
empower staff to perform at their best.
The most important goal is to provide
the best quality service in education to
our students to allow them to find their
place in the world!
Carmel Platt
Primary School Principal
I like to think that I practice a shared
leadership model. I see us all as learners.
Individuals cannot know or do it all, and I
am a firm believer in the notion that within
the group there is all the knowledge and
experience that we need. A big part
of my role is to enable the possibilities
of that knowledge and expertise to be
activated within the team. Furthermore,
there seem to be two aspects to leading
a school, one of strategy and the other
an enabling action. The art to leading
a big complex school is getting the
balance right while at the same time not
loosing sight of our main purpose which
is education and student learning. I've
been a principal now for 19 years and I
still get excited and motivated by being
part of a learning community that is
continually evolving.
How would you describe your
leadership style?
