What
makes
the
Emiratisation
programme unique at the Al Habtoor
Group?
The Emiratisation thought is not new
to the Al Habtoor Group as the great
inspiration of its Chairman Mr. Khalaf
Al Habtoor makes Emirati job seekers
interested in joining and learning from
one of the most famous businessmen in
Dubai.
Emiratisation is not a mission or a task
to be completed it’s a belief in a vision of
the future and our collective responsibility
towards the country.
What are your Department’s plans for
2014?
The Group Business Managers have
prepared recruitment plans not only
for the 2014, but as far as 2016. Once
implemented, they will create a big
difference in the recruitment figures. We
also wish to actively engage in the events
planned by the universities and colleges
in the UAE.
What do you see as the main challenges
in the implementation of the programme?
The main challenge is to change the
mindset of the people with regards to
employment in the public sector versus
the private sector and to lead them in the
right direction to overcome any obstacles
they might face.
What is the most rewarding aspect of
your job?
I engage with many people on a day-to-
day basis and develop friendships with
some of the people I come across. If I
managed to make one positive change in
the life of any of those people, for me that
would be considered as the best reward
ever.
What attracted you to your current role?
I studied HR and I believe that whoever
would be in this role should have strong
beliefs and a good personality to be able
to understand the nature of different
personalities and how to evaluate the
needs of each employee.
Emiratisation Manager
Fatma Al Haddad spearheads the Al Habtoor Group Emiratisation Department. She tells us
what's in store for the Group's Emiratisation Programme, and a little about what she gets up to
outside of work...
What are your interests outside of work?
I love drawing! And I also started to take-
up photography. I think both are related
because I need to have a good feel
for combining colours and love for the
outdoors. I have also managed to teach
myself how to make delicious pastries,
which I share with my colleagues.
What is the most adventurous thing you
have done?
I love speeding but not speeding tickets!
So if I have a chance, I go to the racing
rings similar to the ones in RAK or Um Al
Quwain. Once I tried the Autodrome in
Dubai and I got addicted to it. My most
adventurous trip was my visit to Sedona,
Arizona State. I managed to convince my
friends to go on a mountain safari despite
the fact that they were really scared.
The weather was freezing, as low as -3
Celsius, and the driver made the journey
even more exciting. Until this day I’ll never
forget how much fun I had and my friends’
screams.
