The Chairman made a two-day stop at Illinois College in Jacksonville on October 13-14, 2014. On the first day, he cut the
ribbon to signify the dedication of the Khalaf Al Habtoor Archives at the Schewe Library on campus. The following day
he was joined by former President Jimmy Carter to launch 'Pathways to Peace', a new initiative which looks for possible
solutions for long-term peace to Israeli-Palestinian conflict, an issue afflicting our region and the West. Attendees included
the Honourable Congressman Paul Findley, Dr. Barbara A. Farley, President of Illinois College, faculty, students and the
public.
The Chairman ended his trip by visiting President Carter and his wife Rosalynn at The Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
On the occasion, President Carter and the Chairman’s discussed the successful inauguration of the 'Pathways to Peace'
Initiative, which will include regular seminars involving 12 Illinois College students and faculty members. Starting in spring
2015, participants will study methods of resolving ethnic, cultural and religious conflicts with a view to nurturing fresh
ideas on how to bring an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Students will travel to Jordan, Palestine and Israel to meet
with other students and decision makers, garner their opinions and present their final papers to the Chairman in Dubai.
