The Chairman of the Al Habtoor
Group spoke on his vision for Dubai
after 2020 and beyond at the Arabian
Hotel Investment Conference (AHIC)
2014. The Al Habtoor Group was
one of the main sponsors of the
region’s largest conference of its
kind. AHIC, which celebrated its 10th
anniversary this year, was held under
the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed
Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of
Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman,
Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief
Executive of Emirates Airline and Group.

exclusively to Edmund O’Sullivan,
Chairman - MEED commented on the
growth of his company, “We are as
the Al Habtoor Group the second in
investing in hotels after the Jumeirah
Group. No one can be compared to
us for a simple reason - we believe in
the United Arab Emirates, we believe
in Dubai and we believe this is the
safe haven of the world and this is the
country of opportunity for everybody
to invest in, either in hospitality or
in anything else.” He told delegates
gathered at the event that “strong
levels of growth forecast in Dubai in the
years to 2020 to continue beyond the
Expo”. The Chairman also discussed
the completion of Al Habtoor City, the
biggest project of its kind, and the
importance of experienced human
capital for the growth of the region.
The Al Habtoor Group also exhibited
its projects and hotel portfolio at
the two day event - May 4-5, 2014,
which hosted several of the top hotel
investors, developers, operators and
advisors from Dubai and across the
world. The official closing gala dinner
was held at the Group’s newest hotel
property - the Waldorf Astoria Dubai
Palm Jumeirah.
