Private Schools
such as EIS have developed rapidly over the past few
years and since 2008, we have not only successfully managed the fallout from
the global financial crisis, we have also successfully managed the transition into
the highly regulated environment of annual school inspections by the Dubai
Schools Inspection Bureau (DISB). Year by year the bar set by DISB is raised
and I am very proud to report that both our schools have achieved the rating
of 'good' with many Outstanding features. To achieve this goal has been no
easy task but by keeping our focus on the implementation of ongoing school
improvement strategies and programmes, we have been able to deliver on our
core mission, which is to provide exceptional education for the children of the
future.
Our campus at Jumeirah was opened in 1991 and the Meadows campus in
2005. We were the first International Baccalaureate (IB) high school in Dubai
and during the 2013/14 academic year, I am very pleased to announce, we
were authorised by IB to deliver the Middle and Primary Years Programmes
(MYP & PYP). In the 2014/15 academic year, we will launch the IB Careers-
related Certificate course. We chose to become an IB World School because
the programme is a widely recognised and respected international curriculum
that prepares students well for their future. The IB philosophy also sits very well
with our own core mission.
Over the years we have strived to achieve a strong sense of community. Nurturing
this sense of community has enabled us to retain many of our dedicated and
outstanding staff. This real strength is one of the main reasons why our students
enjoy coming to our schools and as a result are achieving excellent results.
Our graduating students are amongst the top scholars in both the IB diploma
programme and the IGCSE exams. Most of our students are accepted into their
first choice universities around the world. Our on-going focus will be not only to
enhance our sense of community and to become an 'outstanding' school; we
will strive to become an 'outstanding' provider of Arabic and Islamic Education.
This is a real challenge and one that will stretch us all but we are dedicated to
achieving it.
