EIS Jumeirah
EIS schools strongly support initiatives
to promote Emiratisation in the UAE.
The Ministry of Education presented
certificates of appreciation to EIS
Meadows Principals Carmel Platt and
Leonard Murphy for the quality support
offered by EIS Meadows leadership
and staff during the Emirati Leadership
Development Internship Programme
for 2013/2014. Five Emirati leaders,
including principals and deputy-
principals from government schools in
Dubai, visited the Meadows campus
over a period of six days during term
two, to observe exemplary practice at
different levels across the school.
The Chairman hands over the ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ to Bana Khedro
in recognition for her hard work and commitment in the role of Registrar at EIS
Meadows over the past nine years. It’s not Bana's first award either. In 2008 she
was the proud recipient of the Al Habtoor Individual Excellence Award.
Well done!
EIS Jumeirah has been successfully
authorised as an IB World School for
the Middle Year’s Programme (MYP).
The school received acknowledgement
from Dr. Siva Kumari, Director General
of the IB in mid-April and now becomes
an IB continuum school, authorised to
offer the Primary Years, Middle Years
and Diploma Programmes, ensuring
continuity from Primary throughout High
School and in preparation for university.
The visiting team commended the
school in many areas, recognising
where the school’s practices exceeded
those required, including the school’s
commitment and understanding of
the MYP programme, promoting
international mindedness within the
schools community and developing
an inclusive Special Education Needs
policy that effectively supports
students with special educational
needs. Teachers were commended
for fostering an environment where
students are actively responsible for
their own learning and for using a
range of strategies and tools to assess
student leaning.
David Hicks, High School Principal
said, “I would personally like to
congratulate all of the teachers
involved in delivering this programme,
the students who so ably displayed
their knowledge, understanding and
commitment during the visit, and the
parents for their support throughout
the preparation and the visit itself.
Finally, I must acknowledge the hard
work and endeavor shown by our MYP
team of Ms. Steele, Ms. Dearden, Ms.
Luqman and Mr. Steve Wellman for his
leadership and guidance.”
