THE BUSINESS
SUSTAINABILITY
PROGRAMME
Business Sustainability and Corporate
Responsibility refers to the actions,
activities and obligations of a business
attempting to achieve sustainability.
It’s believed that if businesses intend to
be sustainable in the long term, then
the resources they rely on should be
sustainable too.
Sustainability refers to social, economic
and environmental issues - namely
the preservation of natural resources,
the reduction of carbon emissions and
attempts to reduce global warming.
Ethical marketing, community welfare,
human rights and addressing the
needs of stakeholders are also part of
modern sustainability programmes
for
businesses.
The
concept
of
sustainability has gained momentum
in recent years, though it dates back
to 1700. More and more corporate
and
governement
businesses
are
adopting
these
policies
as part of a strategic business
plan to benefit both businesses
and society.
