21 Emirates International Schools ‘Foodshala Kids’ is the first competition of its kind in the region. Over 50 schools participated, hoping to win the prize, an exciting trip to Disneyland. Our three EIS contestants were Taksh Giridhar (Year 9), Vashitaa Prasad (Year 7), and Yehia Alhelaly (Year 2). The competition was tough and very competitive with talented young chefs from throughout the region taking part. Yehia, Taksh and Varshitaa practiced daily to perform at their very best. This involved much planning, cooking, and trying out tweaks on some favourite recipes. Our students had a flavour of life as a TV star. On set, days were long as there was much to do before the camera crew were ready to finally Cooking up Victory for EIS-Jumeirah! We are very pleased to share that our alumni Harris Rasheed from the Class of 2010 has been invited by the International Baccalaureate (IB) to participate in the IB Asia Pacific’s largest annual event in March 2018. The event was held in Singapore with the theme “Shaping the Future” and coincides with the 50th birthday of the IB. Harris is fondly remembered for his untiring service to the school community. He won the Service Award from Years 10 to Year 13 consecutively. Harris was also passionate about football and supported the P.E. Department as a referee for the Dubai Schools League. The love for the sport and thirst for entrepreneurship led to a unique venture. Harris’ passion for Computer Science, which started at EIS, has seen him work at top technology companies like BlackBerry, IBM, Intel Security, Microsoft and Uber. Harris will be speaking at the conference about how the IB has equipped him for his chosen field of expertise. Harris fondly remembers EIS, and in his own words has stated: "It has been a long journey from Dubai to Silicon Valley but it started with a solid foundation; the IB program at Emirates International School."
